May 22: A Thousand and One Nights: An Evening of Middle Eastern Dance. You are cordially invited to attend the sixth annual recital featuring the Madrasat Nisaa student dancers! Enjoy an entertaining, educational program featuring raqs sharqi (belly dance) as well as folkloric dance styles from Egypt and the Persian Gulf. The show takes place at the St. Charles Community College Theater (click here for directions to the college as well as a campus map). Doors open at 7 PM, and the show begins at 7:30 PM. September 18-19: St. Charles Community College and Belly Dance with Nisaa will host Sahra Saeeda for a weekend of workshops and performance! Sahra Saeeda (Sahra C. Kent) is an internationally acclaimed Middle Eastern dance researcher, instructor, and performer, and this will be her first time teaching in the St. Louis metro area. Visit here to learn more about Sahra. The exact details for the weekend's class offerings have not been finalized, but Sahra will most likely be instructing classes in both raqs sharqi and Egyptian folkloric dance (not a JtE intensive).
